Our Strategic Approach

The mission of Strategic Applications International (SAI) is:

to move programs and projects from vision to results

To that end, we pursue great ideas, promote action, and effect change with demonstrated results. Our goal is to come alongside our clients to understand and capacitate their work. We help develop the resources and intellectual and social capital necessary to improve the work and mission of our clients and our firm.

Our mission is anchored in a sociology of faith that is ethnographical. To that end, our approach is about project development anchored in appreciative inquiry, problem solving, asset building and innovative solutions. By being on the ground with our clients, we gain a better understanding of their challenges and the predicament of producing change to reduce the harms associated with substance abuse, violence, crime, poverty and disease. Our approach is synergistic with an emphasis on systems thinking, comprehensive strategies, cross-sector integration and collaboration. We work “with” the partner and avoid strategies that create dependency or control.

Components of Ethnographic Approach

  • Assessment
  • Strategic planning
  • Building a funding collaborative
  • Researching and providing intellectual capital
  • Execution of plan
  • Evaluation
  • Communication
  • Resource development
  • Champion development
  • Diversifying resources and sustainability

Working in Washington, DC helps create access to major funders but the power of our communication is based on our experience in the field. We serve best when we work side-by-side with the client.
