David L. Cole is a Senior Management Consultant with Cole & Associates in Lexington, Kentucky. Cole & Associates specializes in the collaboration, planning, and implementation of state systems and legislative initiatives dealing with the prevention and treatment of crime, violence, and substance abuse. Mr. Cole has been involved in the development and operations of local, regional, state, and national programs since 1969. Under a contractual arrangement, Mr. Cole has management projects for the National Crime Prevention Council, The Kentucky Crime Prevention Coalition, and the Kentucky River Foothills Development Council. Prior to starting his own consulting business, he was a Senior Associate with the Council of State Governments (CSG) at CSG’S national headquarters. While with CSG, Mr. Cole was the Project Director of a fice-year Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) Project. This project provided technical assistance and training to appropriate state systems throughout the country on how to more effectively deal with the substance abusing offender. During his leadership as the director of a Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) Project, the project was selected by the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) to receive its Outstanding Anti-Drug Coalition Award. David was involved in the development of the Drug Court systems in Kentucky, and Louisiana; the implementation of the Massachusetts “Supreme Court Policy on Substance Abuse and the Courts;” and, the establishment of the Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy. David attended undergraduate school at Campbellsville University, and graduate school at the University of Kentucky.
